FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnotherapy, Appointments & Fees

How long are the appointments and how many sessions will I need?

Your first session lasts 90 minutes, allowing time for assessment, explanation, questions, and therapeutic work. All follow-up sessions last 60 minutes.

Some people notice a positive shift after the first session, while others benefit from a short course of sessions. As a general guide, treatment typically takes between 2 and 5 sessions, depending on the individual and the issue being addressed.

All sessions are tailored to you as an individual — this is something you should expect.

Please remember to confirm which practice location you are booking for (Reading, Didcot, or Online).

How much does it cost to see a hypnotherapist?

  • Standard sessions: £75 per session
  • Stop smoking programme: £195

Stop smoking sessions last 90 minutes and include a follow-up session if required (60 minutes). The follow-up is rarely needed, but recommended.

Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer, or PayPal (by prior arrangement).

Concessionary fees may be available for students, people on benefits (with proof), retired clients, and under-16s.

Home visits, extended sessions, multiple bookings, and corporate sessions may be available by arrangement — please enquire.

Do I need to sign a contract for the terms to apply?

No.

You do not need to sign a contract for terms and conditions to apply. By booking a session, you agree to the Terms & Conditions provided in advance, including fees and the cancellation policy.

This is the same principle used when booking hotels, parking in a car park, or purchasing professional services.

Cancellation Policy (Please Read Carefully)

Appointments are reserved exclusively for you. When a session is booked, that time is set aside solely for your use and cannot usually be offered to another client at short notice.

For this reason, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged 50% of the session fee
  • Non-attendance (no-shows) or same-day cancellations may be charged at the full session fee

These charges are not a penalty. They reflect the loss of a reserved appointment slot, room hire costs, and the fact that the time cannot usually be reallocated once booked.

Providing sufficient notice allows the appointment to be offered to someone else and avoids unnecessary costs.

What if there are exceptional circumstances?

I understand that genuine emergencies and unforeseen situations can arise. If this happens, please contact me as soon as possible.

Exceptional circumstances are considered reasonably and fairly on a case-by-case basis. However, fairness works both ways, and the cancellation policy applies in all other situations.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Around 95–96% of people find hypnosis natural and straightforward. Hypnosis is simply a relaxed, focused state that we all enter naturally in everyday life.

Some people respond more easily than others depending on factors such as trust, understanding, environment, and expectations. Sessions are always adapted to the individual. If I feel hypnotherapy is not the right approach for you, I will say so honestly.

Will I be aware and in control during hypnosis?

Yes. You remain aware, safe, and in control at all times.

You do not lose control, fall asleep, or “go under”. Hypnotherapy does not involve stage techniques or tricks. Many people are surprised by how aware and comfortable they feel throughout the session.

Can I be made to do or say something against my will or morals?

No. Hypnosis cannot override your values, judgement, or personal morals.

Are there any dangers or side effects?

Hypnotherapy is a safe and natural process. There are no negative side effects, and many clients report feeling calmer, clearer, or more relaxed after a session.
