Pressure & Performance – Coaching in Reading & Didcot

If anxiety, nerves or pressure stop you performing at your best — whether in interviews, exams, presentations, sport or other high-pressure situations — performance anxiety can be exhausting, frustrating and confidence-eroding.

Performance anxiety is not a lack of ability or talent. It is usually the result of subconscious stress responses that activate under pressure, causing physical symptoms, overthinking and loss of focus.

I help people across Reading, Didcot and online reduce performance anxiety using a blend of hypnotherapy, NLP and performance-focused coaching.

Many clients notice a positive shift within just a few sessions.

Ask a Question

Do Any of These Sound Like You?

• You perform well until the pressure increases

• You feel nervous, tense or panicked when being evaluated

• Your mind goes blank or overthinks

• You shake, blush, sweat or feel physically uncomfortable

• You worry about being judged or making mistakes

• You replay performances afterwards and criticise yourself

• You avoid high-pressure situations if possible

If so, performance anxiety may be holding you back more than you realise.

Why Pressure Disrupts Performance

Performance anxiety occurs when pressure triggers the body’s stress response. Situations involving expectation, evaluation or consequence can cause the nervous system to switch into fight-or-flight mode.

This may lead to:
• Increased heart rate
• Muscle tension
• Shallow breathing
• Reduced concentration
• Difficulty recalling information
• Loss of confidence

When this happens, logic and reassurance are rarely enough to regain control.

Performance Anxiety Situations I Commonly Help With

• Interview anxiety and career pressure
• Exam and test nerves
• Public speaking and presentations
Sports performance anxiety
• Stage fright, imposter syndrome and performing anxiety

Although the situations differ, the underlying response is often the same.
